I'm moving to Rio after Carnival. I plan to stay in a hostel. Can anyone recommend a few good hostels in Rio that have wi-fi and easy access to public transportation? I need the transportation because I'll be interviewing at English language schools to teach English. Is staying in a hostel a good way to do this? |

I stayed in a great hostel called Mango Tree in 2007. It's in Ipanema. I'm sure if you check hostelworld or wherever you will get more info. Great atmosphere, nice people, convenient |

I stayed in Vila Carioca in the neighborhood of Botafogo in 2007 and was happy with it. The location is good - near the subway, pizzarias, pharmacies, and the beach.
I felt safe and the staff was overall very helpful. There were computers available to rent; I don't remember if there was wifi because we didn't take our laptops. |
