So... do you work for these people? I didn't see anything in there of much use for education CV requirements.

Serious teachers don't use "seriousteachers.com". Serious teachers seriously teach and earn the serious bucks and benes.
Seriously, just the "name" of the website is off-putting...

How is everyone? Happy New Year again!!!
I need some advice about revising my resume for teaching jobs in the UAE. I have been posting my resume on seriousteachers.com for almost a year. I have recieved a few responses, but none that has led to a full job offer. I wanted some advice. I am in the process of getting my masters degree in TESOL. Also I have posted my photo on seriousteachers, and some of my friends advised me not to. Is it true that most of the Arab countries prefer to hire Caucasions? I am African-American and I was wondering if this is the reason why I am not getting any responses, or is it a question of revising my resume? Please give me any honest advice you have. Thanks.
Also besides here Daves ESL cafe and seriousteachers, are there any other websites that you recommend that I can post my resume? |
Maybe LinkedIn. I understand that's popular for business networking, not sure about teaching.

I agree with a previous poster. I wouldn't post my CV on any job website. Good schools don't need to go to job websites to find good teachers, there are plenty of good teachers contacting the school directly. And anyway, there are so many bogus or crappy job websites, it seems to me a waste of time trying to figure out any that are genuinely useful.
Do some research then apply to schools directly where you want to teach. Or look at the TES, ECIS, TIE for teaching jobs.

If you think a photo of yourself migh be a factor, then remove it. Nationality can make a difference for jobs in the UAE, and there's no one to complain to about an employer being racist. However, for teachers, where you obtained your teaching qualification is more likely to affect likelihood of getting a job in a good school.
