I think CERT staffing varies depending on companies signing up for training.
My guess is that your application hasn't been pursued because companies aren't signing up.
I think you are right that you probably won't be offered a start now before August at the earliest. |

Well, as it turns out, I had a phone call this morning (Jan 18th) from HCT telling me that they want me to start mid-February. There is no problem for that as far as time issues are concerned. In fact, I am more than ready to start working.
They were saying about me going to Abu Dhabi, working for CERT. Again, no problem. (I should add here, I have done three years in KSA in the past so, I have a few 'campaign medals' already for service in the desert).
However, if anybody has any idea what I should expect by way of housing for a 'single' guy (the good lady won't be coming out just yet...I want to see the lay of the land first), I would be grateful for all contributions/elaborations.
Many thanks again to everyone who took time to post.
Cheers,
TBE |

Mabruk!! We told you that it was unpredictable.
Be sure to say from the start that you want married housing and that your wife will be joining you later. I'm not sure that you would be assigned a different flat. But, you want her to be covered by the benefits without having to jump through any more hoops.
Personally I'd bring her right away. This is Abu Dhabi... not Saudi.

| Housing for singles vs. married w/out children is the same. What you get depends on what is available. There are several "married, but unaccompanied" folks living in our villa complex. Many wives choose not to live here because they can't get a job and you can only shop so much. HCT's housing in Al Ain is good (we're in a complex of new villas, all but one of which is rented out by the college). I've heard that Abu Dhabi's is much more of a mixed bag. They will have someone show you several choices when you arrive. I've not heard of anyone saying, "hell no" and getting back on the plane. |
