I am trying to find a good/professional language academy to apply to. I have two years experience in Korea, plus the CELTA, oh and I am former permanent resident of H.K. (which lapsed due to a long absence) but I am not too familiar with the private teaching sector there now.
I can find plenty of schools on-line, but I am just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent and reputable company?
Lastly, I was looking at applying to the recent pnet scheme but as I fell into one of the last acceptable categories (3 I think) I decided to put off my application until I have completed my MA Tesol. Was this a good idea?

The process of applying for NET is so long you might as well start now (seriously). It's ongoing and you can apply anytime, whatever the deadlines say (it just means you would miss the next job start date). Once accepted by the EDB, schools may or may not be interested in speaking to you. You can add the MA to the application once done (by the way, PGCE is the EDB main requirement).
International schools need more than CELTA too.
British Council takes CELTA and 2 years exp.
Not many others to recommend that I know of. |

Thanks for the reply, especially the pnet info. I am hoping to return to H.K. on a work visa, re-acquire (if possible) my permanent residency and then look at doing a masters or pgce at HKU or the Chinese U, who offer a masters in TESOL.
Thanks again! |
