Just a quick question - where is the EFL land of milk and honey, where they pay top dollar, and have reasonable benefits? Is it Kuwait? South Korea? Chinese universities??? In your opinion/to the best of your knowledge, the place which you would suggest with the best remuneration to work situation balance. All suggestions gratefully received...

Dear Wildcats in the house,

Probably the UAE - but you need the qualification (MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistic) and experience (at least three years overseas teaching) to get one of the decent jobs there.

Regards,
John

Dear kymerhit,

Hey, good to hear from you again. But in recommending Cambodia, did you overlook this part of the OP's post:

" . . . where they pay top dollar, and have reasonable benefits?"

Milk and honey, there may well be, but the above . . . .?

Regards,
John

Are you only interested in money? There have been plenty of other threads on that.

You will find lots of negatives even in lands of milk and honey. Korea has lots of xenophobia, and if you lose your job you also lose your visa. Join the Korea forum to see why it's a separate one (and what some of the disadvantages are). Having your rent paid is just one allure, but it can be overridden by other factors.

Japan has often been declared such a utopia, and even if you get "top dollar", there are down sides. Some xenophobia, some employers who opt out of getting employees on required insurance plans, etc.

Couldn't tell you what the Middle East has for negatives specifically, so check out the appropriate forum and ask about more than just money.

I understand money to be relitave to everything-income grater than outgo etc. With the global fiat currency "blowing in the wind" of change, its a crap shoot...
