"Rumour control" is working overtime again. Nobody has ever been able to confirm that there is a "black list" for anyone/thing.
It is all an Urban Myth. I have heard of these "lists" from my youth until now, nobody has actualy ever produced one.
Just a load of crap devised by people who have heard from someone who has heard it from a "friend".

You'll be there on the red visa, and you can't leave on the red visa alone. You need the actual visa with the little silver decal affixed to be able to leave. And then you'll be doing a runner unless you do everything properly. |
ThaneKerner, that is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CRAP!!!!!!!!!
Tell you what, show me a copy of this mythical document and I will willingly apologise, fail to do so and it, as with other "Urban myths", will be consigned to the crap heap where they belong. So, put up or shut up!!!!!

It's the visa with Rhode Island Red rooster on the back. Teachers from Bangladesh get those at times. |

Welcome to Oman "The Arabian Land of ESL Magic". It will cast a spell on you! Muscat is a wonderful place to teach and Bahwan Cybertek is a fantastic employer to work for. Excellent salaries, benefits and the opportunity to experience the traditional Arabian culture and lifestyle await you here. |

No thanks. Turnover is too high at the MoM colleges, bastions of slightly organized chaos. A job at a place like SQU would be good, though. However, I'd apply to SQU DIRECTLY and avoid middle men like Bahwan.
And if I did go with an agency, I'd want to get my contract up front before leaving my home country, plus I'd want to give only a month's notice if I ever wanted to leave my great job in Oman. Can you hook me up, Hawk? |

SQU only hires directly. They tried recruiters once about 10 years ago and it was an absolute disaster. That was the end of that...

Hiring directly is the ONLY way to go. When there are only a couple of agencies hiring for most outfits in a country, those agencies hold lots of power over teachers. Take Oman. In Oman, the big three are Bahwan Cybertek, GlobeNet, and CECN. If you go to work for one and give any 'trouble', the others will soon know of you. This is by design. Hey--example making works.
Hire directly. Avoid the agencies entirely. If you can, that is. |

Oman is a great place to work. Yes you can work directly and bypass the recruiters. However I would highly recommend Bahwan Cybertek. They offer excellent salaries and benefits and they are the best recruiter to work for in Oman! Forget about the other recruiters and go with the best. |

Arabian Hawk,
You keep repeating this:

So much so I am beginning to suspect that you have vested interest. I mean, all the negative post about BC and you keep coming up with that phrase??

Of course Hawk has a vested interest.
Hey, Hawk...I would like my contract UP FRONT before I get on a plane. I also want to give only 1 month's notice to Bahwan if I want to leave, just like they will give ME if they want me gone. Screw that 3-months' notice or 3-months' pay BS.
Can you do it, Hawk? |
