Does anyone have any experience with the LAST (Liberal Arts and Sciences Test) for the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations?

I'll be taking this exam in a few weeks and the only resource that I am currently utilizing for preparation is a preparation guide that I downloaded from the Internet.

I've heard that this test is really easy and that 97% of those who write it pass it, but I don't want to get too over-confident.

So, once again, any sage-like words of advice for approaching this test properly?

Many thanks in advance.

If you haven't already done so, try posting your question on the following site:

I've taken it. It isn't too difficult, but it is long. And actually about 40% of test takers fail.

Regarding my figure of 97%, I had thought that this was rumor. Nonetheless the pass/fail rate isn't important. I hope to be on the pass side whatever that ratio may be.

If I may ask, why did you take the LAST, guest?

I taught high school social studies in NY. I miss it terribly.

I think I will actually return to teaching in the US. I plan to go back and get a masters in Applied Linguistics or TESOL. After that I'm thinking to to try to teach history and ESL. Once I get settled into that I will probably get a BA in English. The final goal will probably be a PhD in intergration of curriculum.

Teaching is my passion and as much as I like to travel and live abroad, I long for the satisfaction I got from teaching in the US.
