Four year degree and School for International Training certification (130+hours). A year of teaching experience. Any thoughts or possibilities for working now in Oman?
Thanks

As you can see from the discussion on other threads a lot of hiring is going on. Get your application into the mix. |

But, VS, there's nothing wrong in someone recommending the lesser evil.
You are aware Oman ministries don't recruit direct..and the other guys are reportedly worse.. |

WMTN,
I beg to differ, the MoHE have always recruited direct, It's just that not many people seem to bother to contact them.

There is nothing wrong with it... if he weren't just doing it to troll. Note the two smilies that end every repetitive post. He thinks he is being cute... but he is not recommending these people.

hmm.. is this one a sarcastic post too? I'm not seeing many aside from the Air Force. Any more ideas at the moment please? I'd prefer teaching adults if possible |

You may be able to squeak through... you are pretty much at the minimum credentials level. With these recruiters, it is often supply and demand.
But read the threads here on whichever recruiter you apply to. They all have their issues. If you can deal with those... go with the flow... you should be able to save some money each month. (after the first couple of months getting settled) Not to mention have something added to your CV.

I heard through the grapevine that if you are applying to a college which has to get approval for your work visa from the Min Higher Edu you need the following minimal qualifications and they have to be attested:-
A first degree in English or TESOL
a CELTA / Trinity Cert TEFL (recommended by Accreditation Council)
Of course if you come with one of the 'agencies' you are under the Min of Manpower and are sent to certain MOM colleges, you need don't your papers attested etc... But of course these colleges which use 'agencies' have failed their accreditation!!!!!! ( I wonder why???) |

I'd be surprised if they require the first degree to be in English/TESOL. I have worked with very few teachers in that category.
I expect a CELTA and 3+ years of experience will trump a different BA. Especially since they are always short of teachers.
