Is it purely a visa issue that this is a requirement?

If i was to obtain a D visa for example, therefore meaning the schools didn't have to organise the visa would that give me more chance.

And to Jay Ray, I find that self righteous attitude of yours interesting.
Are you telling me that I really should have spent 3 years spending more of my time going to parties getting drunk and occasionally studying while doing a very easy art degree? Would that really have more benefit then travelling learning and doing business in several different countries?

And I would be happy to be taught by a chinese fisherman. I rate people on the quality of life skills and experience a person has, not how long he spent in school.

Forgive my rant, I guess it's just me feeling bitter, because this is probably the easiest job I have applied for, and yet it's proving to be the hardest to get. Embarassed

Oh come on, I haven't finished college (I think I've only accumulated 18 credits in the last few years .. haha) yet I can still see the benefit of taking the time and effort to get a four year degree. The whole entire ESL market becomes open to you. Thankfully for me, my passion is Latin America, where my TESOL has been quite sufficient. I'm thinking of China though -- I'd take 8000+ yuan and it seems within my grasp based on MY qualifications.

Yeah, because getting a university degree automatically means that you can do lesson plans and create a syllabus ..

I get it, you're proud of your degree, but in the end, we're teaching the language we all got brought up on here. We're all on the same playing field in the classroom when it comes to this career, as all you need is a healthy dose of teaching theory, organization and a presentable and fun way to present grammar and wa la, you're a decent ENGLISH teacher.

We're not teaching physics here.

Just because you can speak a language does not mean you can teach a language as a second language. China holds this belief and look at the 5 mil college graduates every year who can't speak comprehensible English.

Your attitude demeans and degrades, is an outright insult to those who study 2nd language acquition, linguistics, education.

You are part of the problem, not the solution.
