I have a quick question... what does everyone do with their stuff when they move back to the US? I obviously can't take everything with me in suitcases, since it will be me and my 2 children. I mainly want to take back clothes and some toys, movies, stuff like that. Suggestions?

If it will be just a few extra suitcases or boxes, it might be worth paying the extra bag fee. Check with the airline on the cost and limit.

My daughter paid $40 (dollars) to bring her hockey stuff from Mexico to Canada as an extra bag on her flight because, as she said, it would cost more to buy it again.

Well, with 2 kids and alone it will be tough, not impossible to deal with so many suitcases. At any rate, I don't think I can take all of the things I want in 4 suitcases (my youngest will be a lap child).

If I were in your situation, I would price out sending them by mail, by courier, and as extra luggage. In the case of taking them as extra luggage, if it is, say, up to about six suitcases and boxes, you could look into arranging ahead of time to hire two taxis (say you get a reference to a reliable guy, and he brings a friend) and they could help you with the hauling, getting the luggage to the check-in counter.

Wildchild- That's what we did when we moved to Mexico 5 years ago. That's what I plan on doing upon return to the US, but thanks.

Thanks to everyone else for their advice.

Why does everybody have to take all their belongings to the US when they decide to leave? Does anybody know to get a visa to do this?
