I'll be bringing a Dell laptop with me from the US. I think everything should be in order, but would anyone have any advice, pitfalls to avoid, etc. with operating a laptop from the US in Japan?
Thanks for any and all advice! |

What is the operating system? Older models cannot connect to ADSL here.
Bring backup disks for your system. |

I also brought a laptop with me from the US, but there was no need for a power adaptor. Where are you from, Ben?
I believe most laptops today come with built-in power converters, but one should still check on these things. Japan operates on 100V, but depending on the area (west or east), you may face 50Hertz or 60Hertz.

by power adaptor I mean the socket connection is different to that used in Australia - all new(ish) laptops should have power converters as standard.
Socket adaptor set me back a few hundred yen (i.e. nothing) |
