Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if the pay is higher at international schools in Spain than at private language schools? I've read on this forum that the average teacher makes about 1000euros a month over 12 months. Does anyone know how much more or less a teacher would get paid at an international school?

Thanks for any information!

Salaries tend to be higher, but it is a different ballpark. Language schools take on TEFL teachers, and a CELTA may be enough. When I worked in a language school in Valencia, most of the work was evenings.

Int'l schools are like private high schools. Most will not take you on unless you are a 'proper' high school teacher, certified. Of course, these places have the odd TEFL job, but they are looking for English Language/Literature teachers, Chemistry teachers and etc.

There used to be a list of Intl schs on the net. There are not masses of them, and many are in expat areas or large cities. At a wild guess, there are about 20 "quality" intl schools in Spain, maybe 30. Competition is fierce...the pay is OK plus a nice working env. plus 3 months holidays paid etc.

Hi there,
Thanks for the feedback.
Just wondering, have you heard anything on SEK international schools?
Thanks again,
