Due to grad school and a wedding I'm wondering if it is possible to find a place for a half year contract (january - june) next year. Do schools allow this? I understand the pay and bennies wouldn't be as much. |

one term contracts (at a university at least) are usually easier to find for the second term starting after chinese new year is over (which is what you're looking for).
but these schools wont usually sign anyone to this kind of contract initially, they more often than not seem to be the result of another teacher (who had a one year contract) not returning for the second half of it. meaning: it would be a last minute job opportunity and not something you could really plan for. |

I RENEWED my first contract for an additional six months (I asked to do it like that). My first contract was for one year, that seems to be pretty standard. Doesn't hurt to ask, though. No reduction in benefits; in fact I got a raise. |
