ZU will be recruiting and conducting interviews at TESOL Arabia this year on all three days - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Also, ZU will be at both the TESOL convention in Boston this month and the IATEFL conference in Harrogate in April. |

I haven't got much experience of job hunting at fairs...how much time do recruiters take to make a decision generally after an interview?
also,do UAE public ed. institutions ever hire staff locally who are completing contracts with other public ed. institutions ? |

Response time is unpredictable and mostly related to individual employers... number of applicants... number of openings... how well your CV matches their needs. I know people who got an immediate offer before they left the room and others who didn't hear anything for a couple months.

Job Fair vacancies were a bit of a disappointment yesterday. Oodles for Saudi, mostly through Global and Bell; HCT and ZU; Qatar University and Police College in Qatar; Unis of Nizwa and Sohar + SQU in Oman; the American University in Afghanistan. I'm sure there were a few more, but nothing that jumped out and yelled "Take me!"
The arrangements were not the best either; website said that one could pay the JF 100 dirhams in the JF area, but once having walked to the far other side of the courtyard and then up 2 flights of stairs, the notices said to go back to the entrance and pay there, so another long walk, pay the 100, walk again back to the JF. The interviews then were being held on 'this' side of the ZU atrium, I think the furthest away one could get from the main JF! People were saying that roller blades should have been provided!
Still, not having been at ZU before, it is a really pleasant place to hold the conference; lots of seating in the main huge atrium; places to buy snacks and food when the voucher possibilities wane; lots of room for the book exhibition and lots of parking. I hope they hold it there again; much better than struggling into town to try to find parking space at one of the hotels. |
