Do any of you English teachers who post have websites/blogs that you can share with us? Do you know of books that were written by EFL teachers that emphasize the experience of living in another culture? Lots of us would enjoy some more information/insight into the life styles of the crazy and adventurous. Neither my library nor bookstore seemed to have anything on the experience of teaching Engish as a foreign language, just grammar guides.
I can see a whole new genre being born... |

I'm not entirely sure I know what a blog is, but there is a semi-dated book that I used when I was first looking into EFL. Susan Griffith's "Teaching English..."--ooops, don't remember the whole title. (Teaching English Abroad? in Other Countries?) It doesn't describe the lifestyle too much, but it does give a decent country-by-country breakdown. I don't know how recently it's been updated, though.

denise, a blog is a web log, or an online journal of someone's ongoing experiences, thoughts, or musings.
I'll look into the Griffith book, thanks for the lead! |

If you're desperate you can read ours at
www.johnandsheena.co.uk/korea/blogs/seoulife.html
but it isn't really EFL based but more about living in another culture. I try not to mention work too much due to the privacy implications for my colleagues, students and who I work for. I think other people might be reticent to blog their work experiences for the same reason. |

I spoke to this couple before I came out to China, now they have left and returned to Australia. They were most helpful with any questions I had and have a very detailed log of their time here.
