I cannot believe this. I was actually burglarized while I slept ten feet away.
They busted the welds on my steel bars and pried them back. Came in through the kitchen window and took my camera and some cash. The strange thing was I found my computer and briefcase in my kitchen near the window.
I was asleep ten feet away in my sunroom. Nothing but a pane of glass and air between myself and the thief. I never woke up.
I feel like I am drowning. I want to scream but I can't. |

And people on here say China is safe...Ha!
I feel for you, getting burglarized is no fun especially since you were in the house sleeping when it happened. My friend in Shanghai got burglarized the same way a few years back, but they cleaned him out good...cash...camera...computer...the whole works.
That is why now I make it a point to live in a gated compound with 24 hour security and I would never live on the ground floor...I always choose to live higher...you can never be too careful. |

daCabbie,
Sorry to read of your situation. I can only imagine how unnerving it must be. Although I've never been burgled, I do remember when, in Shanghai, I had 5,000 Yuen pick-pocketed whilst in a coffee shop. Much worse, I'm sure, knowing someone came uninvited to your flat than your pocket.
Best wishes. |

I knew an FT who had the thieves in their bedroom - they stole a wallet from clothing - while he and his girlfriend slept just a meter or so away.
China is usually pretty safe if those bad-guys can see you're foreign, and you're not flasshing big wads of money in back pockets or leaving bags unattended - but not so easy to spot the laowai when they're snoring in bed!!!!!
PS living on the ground floor isn't only bad for security - those apartments also often stink with sewer smells - since the waste from all those floors above comes flushing down to an often overloaded or partially blocked sewer outlet that lies just bellow your bathroom. |

My USB drive was stolen at an Internet cafe in Yanbian.
I had someone unload a counterfeit 50 RMB on me in Shenyang in my change.
My TI-83 calculator was stolen back when I was a middle schooler in HK.
Damn, China, so much theft. |

When men and women lie together outside the context of a committed marriage, bad things are bad to happen. |

In short, bad things are bad to happen. A true pearl of wisdom. |

Yeah, I like it!
But I meant to type: "When men and women lie together outside the context of a committed marriage, bad things are bound to happen." |

When men and women bind each other, bad things are going to happen.
Fixed that for you.

Are you sure you didn't mean to write:

Yes, and the rates of fornication and living in sin are very high back home, to. Coincidence? I think not. |

That is why I took a hint from the Gideons and stash my cash in the Good Book. |
