My apologies to you too, for it is just a matter of miscommunication.
Please don't get me wrong, and I am not offended, I just say what I think is realistic and fully respect each and everyone's post. Maybe I don't have a full answer to this thread's request, which I think IS an interesting one, but maybe I am also aware of the current situation we are all in and everyone is trying to find out what is justifiable and the best conditions to work in, not just in Japan but everywhere else. (I like the realistic views, I particularly like, for example, Glenski's direct answers, which at first I often get taken aback but also realise there has to be a realistic way of looking at the job market). So many people looking for jobs and I wish I could employ twice the number I have at my place but am constrained for pure economic and business reasons.
I guess I didn't make my first post so clear at first, so it was my mistake. What I am trying to say is that, unfortunately, it is no longer a employees market anymore. Jobs are harder to come by, even skilled qualified experienced people get turned down, unless they take conditions which are economically realistic but not personally satisfactory or in one's comfort zone. Maybe even just holding onto a job is getting harder these days. 20 or 30 years ago, if you graduate, you could get yourself almost anything. Nowadays, somethings on any contract have to be sacrificed. I think labour laws are slow to react to market conditions and companies go out of the way to have to survive at the expense of costs, where labour is if not one of the main costs.
But this thread is a thoughtful one that has a lot of parameters involved. If we set the "ideal" bar too high, it would not be realistic. If we set the bar too low, then employers would use that as their yardstick and assume to be the acceptable norm. Thus in the end, I think, the conditions are only set by the business so that it can run, and then it can employ us teachers. Our voices are heard but ignored.
Thanks.

No not really, The OP did not make it to be such, as there are important issues here that affect us all, that being the difference of what we'd like to have as to what we'd actually get |

I can't say yet, since I don't start until April 7 or 8, but...main things that would make a position idea for me, are:
A higher pay (250k - 300k range as opposed to maybe 200k - 250k range)
Working the same amount of hours each workday (some days one is scheduled or 8 hours, others 6)
And...as you can see, nothing else is coming to mind for me. lol We'll see how I feel this time next week. lol |

| I'd like more day shifts. It would be nice to have dinner with my wife more than 1-2 times a week. Oh well. |
