sid and gordon-

if you wouldn't mind, it would be interesting if you could post what your schedule was like while you were making all that moola.

if you could list your approximate hours spent teaching / time spent in transport / free time (was there any?), i think it would give people a better idea of what you actually did to earn and save all that money. (and who knows... maybe even convert some unbelievers in the process?)

anyway, i work 12 hour days here in Paris and don't make even half that. I'd be curious to see how you organized it all..

cheers

It would be impossible for me to remember my schedule from 1995.

I can give you a rough idea and it might help(prices in US $)

I worked at a uni. 10 hrs/week at $100/hr
I worked at a private school once/week for 5 hours at $100/hr
I worked at a computer business early morning 5 hrs/week at $100/hr
I taught privates 15 hours/week at $75/hr on avg
I did some voice recording 5 hours/week at $100/hr
I wrote a children's book for $6,000 (lump payment)
I edited a user manual for $3,000

There may be more, but it's tough to remember it all. It averages out to about $4400 US/month, sometimes more. My wife made about $3,000/month too.
The funny thing is, is that we had to live in a love hotel because we couldn't rent an apt (being illegal). It was fine, centrally located, but the flashing neon sign got a little annoying at night.

Posting figures from Korea in USD is not exactly fair, like I said about sid's posting of Japanese yen.

Use the country's currency and just cite the exchange rate at the time. Then, people have something to compare.

It can be done but I get tired just looking at that schedule. Just wondering where you fitted in preparation time, material development etc
