Hello, everyone!

I'm looking for a job in China now, and almost every recruiter I come across asks me for a copy of my international passport. Maybe I am being too cautious, but I really can't understand why they need it.

I would send my passport to the institution which is going to hire me, but is it alright to send such personal data to some recruiter you hardly know? From my humble point of view a CV and copies of certificates would suffice.

Some of them, like www.anesl.com don't even make any job offers until they get the longed-for passport. Is there any explanation for this strong desire?

I would also like to ask people who used the survices of such agencies, which of them are reliable?

Thanks in advance! Smile

It's pretty standard procedure. They want to know that you're white enough for their outfit to hire and maybe do some routine checks. I always black out the passport number on the copies I send (may appear in two places on the passport page) by using Photoshop and have never had any complaints. I also watermark any copies of my diploma and certificates.
