To clarify "major criminal offences" I mean convicted; Paedophiles, drug traffickers. How...well.. Google. Many time newspapers (especially Asian newspapers) report such things and they have on line versions. I do know of two cases where applicants were rejected by the TBI recruitment office after doing a quick google search that brought up reports previous convictions, but maybe it was just a rumor...... Shocked

Hi Flicka,

I've never lived in Lampung but have many friends from Lampung and spent holidays there. Living in Jakarta I find Lampung a very refreshing place. There are some excellent beaches (some not too far from Bandar Lampung), fantastic mountain scenery and endless fields and villages, which, unlike Java, have not yet merged into one. There's also the Way Kambas National Park, it's a good starting point to go to Krakatau and large areas are settled by Javanese and Balinese transmigrants who have retained their cultures better than is often the case on Java and Bali itself. If you like being outdoors and don't mind a bit of travelling to get to places, I think you can have a very good time in Lampung.
