Has anyone applied at and been interviewed by Police Training Institute (or the Ministry of the Interior) in Duhail? They are hiring English teachers because they are expanding to teach English to many Ministry of Interior employees.

A lot of Gulagers applied to this place and got no reply either in writing or by phone. The salaries are about the same as the Gulag. Nobody seems to know anything about this place or anyone who works there.

At least two more Gulagers recently responded to an ad in the newspaper but they were never contacted. Nobody bothered to reply to their application. They mainly teach policemen from what I've heard but there seem to be no native speakers, not surprisingly, if they don't even answer application letters. People wonder why they bother to put ads in the local rags when they don't answer.

They came to the TESOL Arabia job fair at the last minute and set up an interview spot in the Piano Lounge.

I saw them there too but knowing their reputation for not replying thanks to posters, I didn't bother. I heard the salary range was about 11,500 so not that great either. It's a very small operation apparently, near the North Road.

Evidently nobody was made a job offer. Some teachers had an interview in Dubai but never heard a word and nobody answers the phone.
Very strange place.

This place is supposed to expand. They are supposed to build a new training institute in a year or two, so maybe there will be jobs. However, nobody knows how to apply. The odd time they put an ad in the paper to which nobody ever gets a reply. Maybe they will recruit when they've finished building???

I know of 3 people who went for interviews there and had to teach a class which was observed by 5 Qatari women teachers.

Heard they've hired an American or British teacher to join so maybe they will start hiring more. The Min is going to build a new school so there maybe jobs in future. Just keep checking the newspapers for ads.

Thiis is one of their ads but it's expired, unfortunately.

Does anyone know if this place is hiring or how to apply? The Gulager who knew has left.

These guys were recruiting at TESOLArabia. The director can be difficult so you have to watch yourself with her. Yet another catty type you have to watch out for. The salary isn't that great and there is ethnic discrimination: Arab teachers are at the bottom of the totem pole. They get 8,000 while she offers westerners 12,000+. She wants to bargain with salary offers which is just not the way to do it. People should the get the same pay for the same job. It's not shopping at the souk!

They say this is NOT a good place to work. The director is very moody and inconsistent; she's not very efficient or organized. Gulag applicants have reported that either she doesn't bother to reply to applicants, or after they have applied and been interviewed, doesn't bother to tell them her decision. Several people have quit recently. They say she is rude to her staff.

The issue over salary discrepancies is also unfair and discreditable. People should be paid according to their qualifications not their origin. Housing issues as well have been reported. Some people have been waiting months to get housed. Evidently another place to avoid. Not worth applying to. If the head of department can't be bothered to answer emails or give interviewed people an answer, then somebody from the Ministry should look into her mismanagement and replace her with someone who is more qualified. This is an old pattern. They have put many advertisements in the paper but they never hire anybody who has been interviewed. Why even interview? Don't even bother if this person won't answer you or after an interview won't tell you her decision.

Too right. One of the gulag guys got a real run around from this place. They have a very controlling type as assistant manager. Not too bright but very bossy and definitely into bullying.
