I have decided to go to Beijing for my next teaching post (I have previously worked in Spain, Poland, UK summer camps and Ethiopia). I study Chi Kung and Tai Chi and I want to have some treatment in Beijing by Traditional Chinese Medecine practitioners recommended by my teacher and my acupuncturist.
As such I would like to hear any advice anyone has about when is the best time to come to look for work or if anyone can give any advice about any of the big chain schools that i see advertised on tefl.com ie. EF, Shanes etc.
I am not looking to make mega bucks, I just want a stable job with a decent enough school that I can persue my interest in the Chinese Internal arts.
I would be REALLY grateful for any advice. Thanks |

Academic jobs (schools and universities):
Primary intake - August / October
* Start of the school year. The better the school, the earlier they would have their vacancies filled, probably.
Secondary intake - January / March
* This is half way through the academic year, after the Chinese new year break. Some teachers leave their posts, some school need extra staff for the second semester.
Training Centre jobs (like EF):
Hire all year round, depending on vacancies. Probably more keen for newbies during the summer months. |

You might want to check out the stickies about finding work after arriving in China. It is advisable that you sign on with a school before you arrive. Read the stickies about visas. |
