VISA (capitalize it for the company, not the travel/entry stamp) is a card issuer. They have nothing to do with the interbank data transfer. That's run by third party companies - usually owned by VISA or Mastercard, true, but still...
The cards will have the name somewhere on it of which third party company the issuer is using for interoperability. |
They used to have the stamps you are talking about. In the past my VISA cards used to have the Plus logo and Switch (now Marestro) cards used to have Cirrus. I just checked all my cards and none of them have anything other than VISA or Maestro printed on them now. Perhaps it's the same for OP's card(s) which is why he insists that they are only VISA cards. |
I'm a "she" btw. ^^ Anywho, I took a look, my credit card only has "VISA" on it, but my debit card has VISA and on the back, it has the "Plus Logo" you mentioned. Oh, and for the record, I haven't used an ATM since I've been here. So, are you saying that VISA debit cards that have that plus logo probably wouldn't work in an ATM machine that accepts international cards? |

| 7 Bank's webpage says that their ATMs accept cards on the Plus network, but that some of them won't work. Have you tried calling your bank to reset your PIN? I think they can do it if you give them a couple pieces of personal information. |

I was planning on doing that, but have to wait until tomorrow before I can call. |

Nope. VISA debit cards tend to use the Plus network regardless of whether it is stamped on or not. I have a VISA debit card and it works fine in most major bank, most 7/11 (although I avoid them due to the extra charge) and all JP Post ATMs. I don't see why you should have a problem with yours. The only type of VISA that would give you issues out here is VISA Electron. |

Well, thanks for the information. Like I said earlier, it was the fact that I forgot my PIN that was giving me the most trouble.
Anyway, I just called home and asked my folks to check my desk drawer, as I left the number in there. I got it and went over to the 7-11 to see if it would take it and it did...so I'll be fine. |
