Hi,
First to NCBA-- I apologize for the geography quip -- looks like I need a spelling lesson and edit a little more closely. You know what they say -- careful editing makes better writing. Gomen Nasai.

Gomen NCTBA.
Although, I thought when it came to abbreviations, you drop the helping words. On the other hand, that was not my strong point. By the way, I enjoy your posts. It looks like we have kicked around the same parts of the sandbox of misery.
See you on the forums. |

Good point... but I don't think it is an actual "rule," is it? ... more of a choice by the "owner" of the abbreviation. I hadn't thought about it, but we have QU and UoN and UoS. (likely used to avoid confusion with the other UN and US that might be brought to mind)
So, I guess NCTBA gets to decide these days.

I want five...count 'em...ALL five of my letters because, as I previously mentioned...expecially the "A" gives me my super-powers of hidden identity and mind-boggling powers. Without it (or them for that matter) I am merely a mild-mannered Engrish teacher who cowers at the sight of his supervisor!

As the Sheikh would say, "Fergitaboudit". Sorry 'bout the hurried push-back, but some folk have apologized on my behalf before...and, I think that's something best forced by a non-existing entity.
I'm glad you enjoy my posts as do others. For example, VS lives to read my posts. But sometimes, like what happened a few weeks ago, some posters can be so cruel. Like that mean, mean poster who attacked me on the Jeddah Airport thread a little while back. If only that poster could have heard me softly weeping myself to sleep that night...sigh...
And, yes, it does sound like we worked in the same parts. I worked for a few defence contractors as well as AlSalam. Any chance we worked together or visited each other's compounds in Riyadh, Taif, or Jeddah?

I too suffer sleepless nights and cry in my pillow when certain mean and nasty halfwit ESL nerds hurt my feelings. But as Sil said to Tony,
"Make ['em] disappear, or make nice. You got two choices." |

SnB--
Sorry Doctor,
I do not concur. Being one of your cohorts from EG, you as well as any no I do not fit the "nerd" bill. By the way, I will email you with a rather funny PV story. I saw some of the other threads where you have been taking a beating lately. I know, no office hours for undergraduates. I have a lot of news and will send you a note. By the way, what's with the cigar. You whistling was bad enough in the van. Sure glad you didn't light up.
Hang in there..... |

Hi NCTBA,
I have knocked around at different times with BAH, Raytheon and a division of Boeing (nor Al Salam, although, I almost did a contract with them). Spent most of my time in the Eastern Province and out your way. You are right, that horse long since died. I laughed the way you put it. I made more off of these contracts years ago. I may go to the UAE from here... I don't know. The beach looks mighty fine about now. Oh, and by the way, you were right about the Jeddah airport thing. It used to be far worse.
Have fun... |

A salient and valid point there. One which bears further study. Possible the sapling of an MA thesis.
(just post padding for the 5 to start PMing) |

You're welcome to PM me! I haven't worked for a recruiter for a couple of years now, but my first job in Oman was through CfBT and I saw the good and the bad.

Nice one. That's much appreciated. I've been looking through the CfBT site and it looks like the kind of thing I would hope to do while getting the MA. |

Ah ha... made it to the crucial number 5 I see.
One thing about the recruiter jobs is that things can change quickly if there is a manager change. Places can go downhill overnight... or suddenly improve a bit.
A search on the Oman page will show you how that goes...

Oh, uhm, that's not my cee-gar, that's Tony Soprano's. I thought I used to be handsomer than TS, but maybe I'm just whistling Dixie.
Don't need handsome--here in Qassim I have to fight off all the women with a stick. It's worse than Japan that way. Oh--that was last night's dream. Never mind. At least I have webcam communication.
I look forward to PV stories. That particular ESL nerd created cold fusion in his/her basement, after inventing both it and basements. Has s/he saved the day in Afghanistan? Meanwhile Annie of the Tugboat is no doubt Teacher of the Year and Filibuster Extraordinaire in EG. |

Dear Sheik,
"I have to fight off all the women with a stick."
Why are all the women carrying a stick? How many are there? Are there more than a Sheik can shake a stick at?
Inquiring mind wants to know.
Regards,
John |

You mean my romantic, wishful-thinking dreams are not of universal interest? Not even about my Vietnamese lady doc in Houston?
Oh, that's quite different. Never mind. |
