Many training centres and language schools are being examined externally these days with a view to their securing accreditation. Last summer it was SDT English Language Teaching Department's turn to be subjected to a Quality Audit by the British Council. The outcome was a positive one. It met or exceeded all of the B.C.'s requirements. In fact, it scored 23 points of excellence in this external examination.
Also, the SDT's Learning and Development Department secured accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD).
This SDT department is now able to run modular courses offering access to the Certificate in Personnel Practice and the Certificate in Training Practice qualifications.
For those of you who are as yet unfamiliar with the CIPD organisation, it is one of the largest management organisations in the world with around 135,000 members. Background info is available at:-
http://www.cipd.co.uk/about/
The CIPD offers a wide range of professional support services for practitioners in the field of Learning and Development.... http://www.cipd.co.uk/subjects/lrnanddev/
Hopefully, some of the "recruitment consultancies" operating in the EFL field will be externally examined one day for professional accreditation purposes. The evaluation criteria for such examinations are already available. Check out the downloadable "Professional Standards" document at:- http://www.cipd.co.uk/about/profstands

As Saudi Airlines' catering operation now provides the food in our staff restaurant, "gravy plane" would be more accurate. But, yes, hurry up and hop on board, chaps! |

The purpose of BAe/SDT training courses is to provide jobs for the boys and window dressing for the Saudi/British missile defense plan. They're in a position to get themselves approved, acredited, recognized and idolized by whoever they like. Staff get wined (well not quite) and dined like diplomatic highflyers to make them feel more than Berlitz/Inlingua/WallStreet Institute/English First language teachers with nowhere else to go.
Oh and the so-called "restaurants" are referred to as Indian "dining halls" which serve up canteen food in disguise. You can get a wide range of ENO fruit salts at the compound(camp) supermarket (PX). |
