For those accepted to Aeon...did you all submit letters of recommendation before you were accepted. I don't remember ever reading about any recommendations. I probably didn't read carefully...thanks.

Keep in mind I applied in Australia (I believe requirements are slightly different in each country):
I did not submit letters of recommendation - I submitted my resume, "Why I want to live and work in Japan" essay and online application. Part of the online application required two references, neither were contacted and I still got the job.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response LaniB! It might be different according to locations. I was just wondering because when I received the letter for the 2nd interview they requested recommendations (I'm located in the U.S.) But I didn't know if it would completely affect their final decision. I could still ask professors for recommendations..but I just think it might be rude to ask for one in a short amount of time.

In the U.S. they will definitely check your references. In fact, it can really hold up the hiring process if they can't get a hold of them. For my interview I brought 2 letters of recommendation and had 5 references on my resume. They didn't call the references who gave me letters, but they could not get a hold of a third reference for a little while, and finally called me to tell me to call him and let him know they wanted to talk to him. I'd bring as many letters as you can to the interview. It makes an impression.

Good luck! Very Happy

Thanks Ladyk. I definitely have references on my resume available to speak. I don't think I'll be able to get letters of recommendations within two weeks though. Thanks for the info though!

I provided 2 references and I believe both were contacted. Letters of recommendation / letters of reference were accepted but not required. U.S. interview.

If I were you and I was having trouble finding people to write them, or just feeling bad about asking, I'd just offer to write them myself and ask your references to sign them. IMHO, that is what usually happens anyway. Good luck! Very Happy
