It's been raining quite heavily for almost an hour now with no signs of a letup. There has even been an interval of hail, not to mention peals of thunder and flashes of lightning! A nice preview of what we can expect in June |

The occasional rainstorms or the unrelenting heat ? |

The rainstorms. I don't know why I like them so much. |

I love rainstorms too! It probably has something to do with the release of primal energy by Mother Nature (or Father Tlaloc) along with the free sound- and-light show. |

Yeah, the lightning show was great on Sunday night coming into the Federal District from Morelos, and there's nothing like a rainstorm for curling up in bed with a book! |

Always to be enjoyed from the comfort of your home, never from your car. It took me a while to learn that one! |

Here's a theological answer, at least to why we often feel that something wonderful is going to happen just before the rain begins to fall. I found this sentence in Malinche, a recent novel by Laura Esquivel:
Sentir el agua en el aire antes de que se convierta en lluvia, es sentir a dios.
Even you don't believe in any sort of Divine Power, it's still a neat idea. |

Glad you liked it. I think the idea comes from ancient Mexican beliefs about the nature of divinity. |
