This is actually a govt. form describing an ft's previous and current status (did you finish the contract, how's your health, your pay). Unlike other FAOs I've worked with, who might be odd but nevertheless don't go out of their way to make waves -- she said she could not recommend me to anyone. (Based, she said, on evidence of a previous runner from For Ex Bureau.) Since my res permit has the uni's name on it, I don't see how I'll be able to work in China and just have the new school transfer visas. Finally, this form is required for that process.
Well, now, do you think I'll be employable in China elsewhere, in a language school etc? |

hmm.. maybe if you go get a new tourist visa... or worst case get a new passport from ur embassy..
really the best way would be to get the FAO to sign the paper.. cause enough waves yourself and u may get it signed |

Brooksdara, you're sure about this? I translated the doc & she (FAO) can say nasty things about me.
I think what I'll do is write her that this rule exists. See what happens. Thank you.
Plan B. And yes, I considered that: an L visa, HK or something. Decided upon another option: my res permit expires in oct. I can look around until then.
Thanks. |

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that as long as the form is chopped it's valid. Brooksdara is correct, the regulations stipulate that they must provide a letter of recommendation and the official release form. These must be chopped to be valid as well.

Brooksdara, thanks so much.
So I wrote asking her for a copy of the document slandering me. She has not replied. I doubt very much if such a document exists. This is one of her tactics: a paper all in Chinese silences the stupid ft.
The new uni FAO wrote asking for the rec. form so they can transfer my res permit. Told her the English Dept. Dean had done his part, had left it w/ the FAO. New FAO wrote asking for the Shijiazhuang Univ. of Economics FAO's tel. number.
Also heard from a previous ft that he's confronting this place for severence pay they never gave him. (Required by law.) He asked me to mention this when I wrote the forum.
Thanks again from many of us. |

When does your contract end? You said your residency permit is good until October?
I don't see why they would need to give you the letter of recommendation until you have completed your contract with the school. |

It bores people, too many details, but if you ask:
I asked them because the next school asked for it. Keep reading.
I came from abroad after having signed a year contract, part of which says (normal stuff) they'll provide a yr long residence visa, etc.
OK. So they FINALLY gave me a resident permit, but it was for only 6 months. (See?) A bit earlier than 10/1.
They overplayed their hand. The effect of their harrassment has been such that I resigned (twice) and they finally agreed to accept it. They made it a "mutual" release of contract and I am finished June 30, 2010, at the end of the semeser. |

How can you resign twice?
You should have seen this coming. If they screwed you in the past what makes you think they have changed their ways and should play fair now. They will continue to play games with you until the minute you are free of them. They have no incentive to be nice and help you.
Was it the school who asked for the 6 month visa or was that all the PSB was offering? Didn't the school offer to extend the visa in October for another six months?
You need to get the government document signed and stamped by the school. Being nice to them is one way you will get it or threaten to leave at that moment and leave them hanging for the last month of the term. But if you have given them the phone number of your new FAO then they are going to burn you.
If you have resigned I see no reason for them to help you. Yes, they might be 'required' to give you the letter of release and stamp the government documents but trying to enforce something that is 'required' is impossible without the help of SAFEA and its too late for that.
Cut your loses and start anew. |

You best bet is to allow the New FAO to procure the release letter.....this is not an unusual event "receiver" schools have to deal with this problem on a regular basis due to vindictive supervision or to administrators who don't want the talents going to a new location. It may be hard to get the FAO to follow regulation as they are suggested guidelines and unless the local authorities have some pull with that administrator then likely you will not get any paper that the regulation suggest you should receive. |

Gene, well, thanks for a happy note in all this. The harsh edges coming from those who've made it are kind of horrible to hear just now. And I know all that stuff, admit the validity of it, though not its practicality at all times...Smug kicks and blows?
\ The new FAO, though, knuckled under and timorously scampered away. I see now that I've been had. No longer speculation material. Gathering facts, clearing up my files, wish I were anywhere else and had a nest. |
