|
|
I have two job offers - one at KFUPM and one at the University of Hail. I've read some horror stories about Hail on these forums but most seem a little old, so would appreciate any up-to-date advice about which to take. |

Family ? Dependants ? Wife ? Husband. Cats ? We know nothing about you. Tell us and we might be in a better position to advise.
What is the differential in salary ? |

Not being American, I don't really get the reference from Trapezius.
Saudi Riyals 165,960 at Hail. SR134,016 (+15%) at KFUPM. No family, or dependants, pets or anyone/thing but myself. Have worked in Riyadh before on two short-term contracts. Just looking for somewhere that pays a decent salary (I consider both the above decent salaries) without too much stress. |

If you have worked in Riyadh then you might have some idea of what Hail can be like. Quiet. Very quiet. And even more boring than Riyadh. Quite xenophobic.
Salary seems a bit low. |

Dear mjmrjp.
Harvard: a large, respected institution located in a bustling, interesting big city (Boston)
Kentucky State: a much smaller, little-known institution located in a relatively small backwater community(Frankfort, Kentucky)
Regards,
John |

The 15% COLA is due to expire at the end of the year, right? |

Thanks, johnslat. I'm guessing KFUPM is the top dog in these terms.
You're right, boundforsaudi - it is only Spetember-December |

Dear mjmrjp;
"I'm guessing KFUPM is the top dog in these terms."
I'd say it is. But remember: the top dog is still a dog.

John |

I think the Cost of Living Allowance (Cola) is here to stay. |

Are you a Brit? Then how about this:
Oxford vs. De Montfort University
(However, I do hope you know about Harvard's reputation!)

I would have said:
Harvard: The best university in the world
Kentucky State: Completely unknown outside the state it is in |

You mean Harvard's reputation for carefully grooming the hubris of incompetent lefties? |

U of Ha'il should be your salary + 15% inflation allowance + transportation allowance. Are you factoring all of that in? |

You mean like GW Bush? Henry Kissinger? Teddy Roosevelt? Mitt Romney? Sumner Redstone? Bill O'Reilly? Senator Mike Crappo? Justice John Roberts? Just to show that they have also produced plenty of incompetent righties... a few of them being world leaders in hubris... like GWB.
But one wonders why you find it necessary to introduce your politics to all of your posts whether apropos to the topic or completely unrelated...
