I was an assistant in Andalucia for a year and had absolutely no trouble living off the 700 euro salary. I did come with a good amount of savings though which helped a lot when I had to pay my rent and security deposit in the first month. We didn't get our first pay check until about 5 or 6 weeks after I arrived. My roommates had a little trouble in the first month as they had just graduated college and didn't have the savings I had from working for a year before coming to Spain. But like Holly said, unless you're living in the major cities/capitals 700 euro is definitely enough to live comfortably, in my experience. I was able to do a ton of traveling due to my savings, but even without that I would have been able to do a good amount of travel within Spain.

I know this is an old conversation, but I wanted to ask a few questions about it.

First, is a US citizen able to land private classes?
Secondly, with the economic downturn, are there still lots of opportunities for private classes?
