If you are arriving from outwith the EU and carrying more than 10,000 Euros in cash you have to declare it. I was rather surprised to see that the definition of "Cash" for these purposes includes cheques and bankers drafts.

So am I the only one who crosses borders with a suitcase stuffed full of currency ? Apart from the "narcotraficantes" ! |

Nah, thanks. Don't have 10,000 EU coz I keep spending all my cash on booze and girls. Money well spent too! |

Well, Uncle Scott, why did you not transfer your money to a bank in Scotland? Did not your employer in the Magic Kingdom pay you in a bank account?
Or may be you want to escape the taxes of Alex Salmond!  |

And when leaving the Realm of Her Majesty make a point of telling the authorities that you are SKINT becauue of the montrous taxation you have paid during your visit to finance the follies of the new Aircraft Carriers and the replacement for Trident.
Suggest that if they want new toys to play with, they should finance them out of their own pockets, not out of ours. |
