Hi!
Is there a chance for a Non-native English Speaker to become an ESL Teacher? I have a 7.5 IELTS band score and I'm planning to take up TEFL Certification either China or Thailand next month. Will it be hard for me to get employed? Please share your experiences and feedback. Thanks! |

In many places in Asia, depending on YOUR country of origin, it may be impossible to get a work visa and has nothing to do with finding an employer.

More info needed.
Occasionally we hear of Dutch people (etc.) who are very caucasian looking and have very good English --which is what Thais want--getting jobs. And, of course, Filipinos get jobs (less salary).
If you are, say, African and a non native-speaker, it will be very hard here.

A pulse is not always a requirement. See above. |

Mrs McC seems to be taking it a bit literally.
NigW has been posting on here for quite a while. Most of us have no idea about his/her skin pigmentation variables (nor gender). Nor does it matter one jot whether she is pink or green, unless you are a wealthy Thai parent or school owner, or both!
I can only surmise that his/her nickname is a derivation/corruption of "Nigerian Scam"---those famous on-line begging letters.
Of course, I could be barking up the wrong tree (as well as completely barking, which I already am...)

A little way off the mark. Congrats to Mr. Eddy though for not jumping to conclusions.
UK born white male aged 38. Thai wife and child. Currently Head Teacher of a UK National Curriculum school in Abuja, Nigeria.
My interest in all Thailand related forums is due to having a home in Bangkok near the Queen Sirikit Exhibition Centre.
Family are with me here in Abuja but my contract ends soon and I am returning to Bangkok in August to take up my new post. |
