| Xiangfan is a miniature Wuhan, right down to its geography. It's just another Chinese city of a million people. I have visited the city several times. There are few foreigners in Xiangfan. The cost of living is indeed low. For example, flag-fall for a taxi was 2 RMB three years ago. Wudangshan, the Taoist sacred mountain, is not far away. Otherwise, Wuhan is four hours away by train. |
Pretty good summary. There's not a lot to say - it's pretty much like any other big city, crowded, noisy, smelly and polluted. As I said, the uni is quite a way out of town so you rarely see fts from the uni in town though I don't socialise that much. I don't know what the working conditions are out there at all.
There's quite a nice foreigner bar that a lot of fts hang out at. There's also a couple of non-teaching foreigners around. Let's just say there are few enough foreigners that you know them all by name, whther you've actually met them or not!
The street food is great meaning you can eat well for a few bucks a day, you can def live on little quite comfortably. |
