I'm from the states. Does anyone know if Mexico requires you to renounce your nationality? I've heard of it. |
You've heard of it because Mexico didn't use to allow dual nationality, but now it does.

Also, does anyone know of other advantages/disadvantages of being a Mexico citizen versus permanent residency. |
The only one I know of is that while in Mexico, you will be treated in all legal respects as a Mexican national only, i.e. while in Mexico you can't claim any advantage or protection that a U.S. citizen might be entitled to.

On another note, we're going to have a baby in December. Does anyone know if this changes my possibilities in becoming a citizen? |
My (uninformed) guess is that it makes no difference, but if it does, it could only be to your advantage because you will be a parent of a Mexican-by-birth. I don't see any way that it can save you your visa renewal next March, though.

And anyone know how much the road to citizenship costs? |
The Internets knows: http://www.sre.gob.mx/tramites/juridico/costos_30.htm |

I don't know how it affects things at the citizenship level but I do know that it strengthens your case when applying for an FM3/2. I've seen that you can write a letter as part of the application or renewal process indicating you are seeking to stay in Mexico because you wish to take care of your child. I say it only strengthens your case because you still need to show economic solvency, through a job, income from abroad, or dependency. |
