Dear ymillington,
Actually, I think what you're doing is a very good idea.
" I am using various sources to try to contact or find people in the region to put together some demographics for a thing I'm working on. Since this is "Daves International" whatever."
If you can establish some kind of network of like-minded parents that could be a tremendous help in making the home-schooling experience in the Kingdom far easier and more "child-friendly."
I wish you every success.
Regards,
John |

Thanks for the encouragement John.
Please spread the word. I would be quite grateful for any help. We're also looking into establishing a service for special needs support through the home schooling and as a support for the English speaking schools.

Hello
So, I know this post is old, but I would like to know if materials like a whiteboard, dry erase markers, and other items that I use to teach my children now, can be found in the bigger cities in KSA? Specifically Jeddah.
I am planning to send my children to school, but I would like to continue teaching them at home, and would like to know if I should bring along all my "teaching stuff' for my kids, or just buy it online or KSA when we get settled, in KSA?
Thanks,
UmmKhadija |

This is not Harare, Zimbabwe.
[Almost] anything money can buy (legal or illegal), is available here.
BTW, what do you think they use here in schools and universities... chalk and blackboard?! |

| As trap says, as long as you are moving to a major urban area, you should have no trouble finding teaching materials of all kinds. Most of what you need will be available at Al Jarir bookstore. The only thing you need to bring with you is the curriculum itself which, depending on its content, may or may not have trouble getting through customs. Even innocent pictures of boys and girls together may present a problem if you run into the wrong customs official. |

Hello:
Trap--well I was talking about teaching my kids at home, so not at all where I intend on teaching. But, I can see from prior posts that even a blackboard and chalk is fine. Since, I am going to be in Taif, I just wanted to see if getting the stuff in Jeddah would be easiest. I have read that in some classes it would be good idea to bring your own dry erase markers, because supplies may not come as quick as one would like. But, I didn't mean to sound like I was going to a place, where nothing can be found, I just already have everything, and didn't know if bringing what I had was better or to just buy it there or via the internet.
Mia--Thanks again for your information, I completely understand about the pictures, I have lots of children's books, that I do plan on looking over before we come to KSA.
Thanks
