Hi
I've just been offered an ALT job with W5, and I have say whether i want the job or not i the next two days.
I've looked everywhere, and I can't find much information about the company. Can anybody tell me anything about W5? What is it like to work for them? They say my hours will be 8.20/5.20 Monday to Friday. Doesn't that sound too long for an ALT job? |

8:20 to 5:20 is too long? That's 8 hours on site for working hours, plus an hour for lunch. You may not be expected to teach every minute of those 8 hours (and likely you won't), but your presence is probably still required on the work site that long. Such time is pretty normal the world over for most jobs.
Be satisfied you don't work the eikaiwa shifts of noon to 9pm and have 2 nonconsecutive days off for a weekend! |

I think you were the guy who emailed me, and I'll just mention again, it depends on how your school is with you. Your supervisor isn't with you most of the time so they wont be able to check exactly what time you leave. Most schools feel sorry for the little gaijin in the corner who looks bored all day and sends them home early.
Our work hours are 8:30-4. |

If it's until 5:20 every day there's probably English club that you'll have to do after classes are over. That's probably why it seems so late. |

Yeah there are probably club activities, and it's good that they've written that into the offer rather than stating your hours are less and you finding out that you're needed after school.
I work 8:30am - 4:30pm more or less on the dot, and spend around 11 or 12 hours actually teaching a week. |
