Comments abound about this nasty little outfit - check out the Qatar thread.

Be careful with the promises of the OM or PM or dogsbody or whatever title he goes under these days.

You've been warned.

I couldn't agree more: this is a cruddy assemblage of charlatans masquerading as language professionals; enter into agreements with them at your peril.

Had a successful two month contract in Kuwait. No complaints. The customer left a lot to be desired but.

You see that's the whole point - they offer two month contracts. Where's the professionalism in that?

The now Operations Manager (former Project Manager) has NO experience of the sort (or qualifications for that matter) He was DoS in Jubail a few years ago and sent the entire project into bankruptcy due to his inexperience and incompetence. It's amusing the way LangSols keep changing his job title in order to hide his true identity. I wonder how high he can go?

You'll know him by the awkward walk, constant yapping without hesitating, lines he thinks are clever that he read in self help management books, oh and the thai wife.

Be warned if you take a post in Saudi - you'll be left totally on your own. Oh and did I mention they don't always pay on time? Oh and that you won't be able to transfer money out of the country? How does sharing accommodation with a bunch of people that haven't had a criminal background check sound? If you have low self-esteem then apply.

Perhaps more serious is their total disregard for teacher safety - there will not be any form of security - not even a gate. You'll be living amongst the locals.

Beware.

LS - LOL.

The 3 month contracts are ideal if you want a winter tan and get fit, as well as a good cash injection, most of which you save. But anything longer is a waste of time as the holidays are minimal. You also have to work up to 6 hours a day with the same kids who have absolutely no intention of studying. Mind-numbing work.

So Simple Simon destroyed Jubail? That wasn't bad - the villa was ok with a pool, but you did have to share with a lot of dodgy characters, aggressive alcoholics and those of a dubious sexual nature.

What's 'dubious' about opting for other than the hetero 'norm'?

Good luck with getting fit. I've just been able to lose 10 lbs. since I returned from Saudi. Was a plump cat bordering on fat. That's just my experience. This may vary according to metabolisim.

Either you are reading between the lines, or between the sheets. I can't see any hint of homophobia here. There are plenty of other sexual proclivities which could labeled 'dubious' too.

Homophobia is common and often seeks euphemism.
"Dubious" is ambiguous and ambiguity presents a "hint".
An inference of homophobia is reasonable given its prevalence.
Clarification and specificity are reasonable requests.

Orgies with hookers in Bahrain were common. One guy was convinced a Chinese prostitute was his girlfriend and got fired for going off to see her when he should have been at work. He had to hitch-hike from the causeway border to Manama airport because he had given ALL his money to his 'girlfriend' and the LS driver didn't have a Bahrain visa. In Jubail, teachers were caught smuggling local young men into their rooms. Dubious doesn't do it justice.

If you swim, run, and go to the gym the weight will drop off. A 20 minute jog is as good as an energetic sauna. You do the maths.

What does him walking awkwardly have to do with anything?? Confused

And also, what's wrong with having a Thai wife? I don't have a Thai wife myself, but I know a perfectly respectable fellow Brit who does, and they are are very happy together. That attitude smacks of racism, old boy. Very Happy

I think so too. I'm annoyed by threads purporting to "warn" prospective employees when what has happened, in my estimation, is an employee has reached a breaking point and needs to vent and give expression to a ball frustration.
There is a "first draft" quality to these warnings. I quality of "getting it all out" and releasing themselves from a period of optimistic tolerance.
Which isn't a bad thing in itself, but dramatically warning away people only to cite random, asymmetric examples of an undesirable workplace is irresponsible.

Yes, and my girlfriend is Thai. I suppose if she were in her 20s, people would make an issue of her age, too.
