The OP said he is living with 2 or 3 family members. Probably not the hookers and cocaine type, but who knows right

Damn impressive stamina if you ask me, which you didn't.

I suspect that the OP could easily save 7k a month if he puts their mind to living within his means.

They do call Hong Kong the "graveyard of marriages." Haven't specifically heard the phrase used for the mainland. So maybe he'll be OK.

I accepted an offer for far lower than aforementioned at a uni in a smaller town. By all accounts, it looks like the extracurricular activities mentioned above may not be in the budget. I hope I can find a gf instead.

Better start thinking about some privates on the weekends. Otherwise you won't be, um, seeing many privates on the weekends.

Zero, is 5000 RMB ok for Anyang? They provide the apartment.

I assume the cost of living is lower than the larger cities.

Seems to be pretty much standard for universities. It is OK if you don't have dependents, debt or expensive habits. You could probably save half, or about U.S. $320 a month. Not exactly an early retirement plan, but better than a lot of Americans do.

This is good news. In my case, I have my retirement fully funded so it sounds like I can live well on that since I don't need to save.

Be careful of the gf that you are hoping to find, by the way. The chances of meeting a self-interested woman are extraordinarily high. But they come in very pretty packages. Truly the "wolf in sheep's clothing" story come to life.

This is not my first rodeo but I appreciate the heads up. In Latin America, they call them "interasadas" aka gold diggers.
