|
|
Has anyone actually managed to find a quality teaching position in a real international school rather than the mickey mouse ones that pretend to be such an establishment?
Having monitored the jobs offered on this website for over a year, I have yet to see any international school of real quality advertise here.
Seems that international jobs board should be renamed "Low paid jobs in teaching centres board"
Would love to be proved different. |

Yep, a number of folk who post where have worked, or do work, in real international schools. Good work for those as want it.
The "international jobs board" you refer to isn't an "International Schools Job Board."
It's mainly aimed at EFL/ESL teaching, not international schools. THere are separate systems entirely FOR international schools, which is how most of them do their hiring.
MOD EDIT

It might be helpful to make the following distinction; 'real' international schools have an international student body (kids of expats and diplomats, etc) These schools sometimes have a limited quota of local enrollments and they often follow the curriculum of an English speaking country.
What you considered 'Mickey Mouse' international schools, call themselves international because they offer education with English as a medium of instruction, have expatriate teachers on staff and use a curriculum which is so-called international (because it doesn't strictly follow the national education system in that country).
Advertisers on Dave's are certainly not the first type. |

Agree that the IBO site is your friend.
The issue is that most posters on here probably aren't going to meet the requirements to teach in said establishments (teacher certification rather than a CELTA or MA TESOL etc.) and teachers looking to teach in 'proper' international schools aren't going to look on Dave's first. |
