I would like to spew forth some of my own observations at the risk of appearing like a troll.
My wife is a near native speaker and has lived in Canada for ten years. She is a graduate of METU an all English unıversity in Ankara. Aka ODT in Turkey. After arriving in 2000 as an immigrant to Canada she immediately enrolled in ESL classes. She was evaluated as intermediate after 16 years from her graduation date. She then completed her ESL to the end of the programme and passed her TOEFL wıth a good enough score to be accepted at The Michener Institute of Medical Sciences in Toronto. There she studied cytotechnology or two years. Then later in 2009 she decided to get her TESOL certificate and join me in Saudia.
To get to the point I am getting at: Her students understand her lessons as if she knew what areas needed repitition and what grammar points needed to be double and triple cheked. I think that because o her previous experience as an English language learner she can connect to her students in ways that I can barely grasp.

Versus the times you are, in actuality, a troll.
We've got NNESTs vs. NESTs threads.
Who's got the skinny on if this employer can be classified of sound repute? |

In some of the institutes the students grade their teachers at the end of semester. If you are liked, you can continue otherwise you will be said good bye. If you dont let the students sleep in class, use mobile phones, put them late for being late or dont let them leave the class before the end the class; then you are not a favourite teacher of the students. If you do, in the eyes of the management, you lack professionalism and you dont have class control.

What's relevant is if KSU does. |

Well OK l am a troll. So now what? Are you and all other accusers satisfied? Would you like me to also admit to crimes I have not commited. I REALLY DON'T CARE.
Please go away if you think otherwise. I am really in no mood for confrontation. If it pleases you and everyone else that thinks likewise than I am the bad guy and I admit to all accusations against me. It's over now let it go before I start admitting that I am something that I really am.

Wait... aren't all of you on summer break? You are supposed to be relaxing and enjoying yourselves. Why are you all so testy today?

We're having an 8-week Summer program. I call it the Jamboree.
Though I do relax and enjoy myself at work, it's not the same as a vacation.
Who's testy? Grendal took a "risk" and I thought that was funny. |

Dear LCK,
"Though I do relax and enjoy myself at work, it's not the same as a vacation."
Be careful. Posting sentiments such as that is likely to offend many, and sooner or later, you'll probably be labelled as an "apologist," "PC," or even
"a Saudi lover."
But according to the Sheik, at least you're not in danger of being executed:
"You vill like it here or you vill be shot!" (though I suspect a sword rather than a firearm would be used in the Kingdom.)
Regards,
John |

I recall the exchange and Don Sheik's apologies.
Criticism. You love it. There wasn't much to that thread. The topic invited disagreement and very quickly no one cared. |

Dear LCK,
Out of context copying and pasting. You love it.
As for the Sheik's apologies, for some reason it doesn't seem to me to be completely sincere:
"Oh, why angry teacher? I apologize for the apologist PC remark of the remark. Let's say the orig. remark looked like that."
But perhaps I'm being far too thin-skinned.
Regards,
John |

What, are we still on about that ?!
What you quoted of me is all you're getting. And I never said anything about "Saudi lover." |

It was a weak apology and a strong criticism. But I was surprised you felt any personal slight was leveled. I thought Sheik's criticism was hollow. He accused you of a platitude with no substantive defense of the magazine's article. But we digress... |

Dear Sheik,
Well, I'll take what I can get. Now, say three "Our Fathers," three "Hail Marys," and an "Act of Contrition."
Absolvo te. Go and sin no more (or any less.)
Regards,
John |
