I've recently interviewed for jobs in Shanghai and HK. Either would be great but I'd rather HK, although I expect an answer from Shanghai sooner. If I get hired by Shanghai and begin the application process or even get my visa and then get offered the HK job, would I be able to accept the latter? I'm concerned about visa issues and the whole one country two systems thing. I've emailed my local Chinese Embassy and am still waiting for a reply. For various reasons I think there's a good chance I'll eventually get offered both jobs. Thanks for your kind help.

The process of applying for a visa for China and one for HK are totally different.
I am not sure of the implications of accepting one job and then taking another especially if you have signed a contract. You would have to talk to a lawyer about that.
I don't know if there will be any communication between Shanghai and HK with regard to visas but you never know.
Working with the EDB can be frustrating as they work to their timetable and it doesn't necessarily take into account the fact that people need to give in their notice etc.
Personally I would not give up my job until I was sure I had secured a NET job as passing the interview does not necessarily mean that you are guaranteed a position. It generally does happen but the time frame cannot be determined in advance.
