Thanks AGoodStory,
The thread you so kindly quoted for us does make a lot of sense.
Frankly, I was not giving myself very high chances in Asia (particularly at a newbie level). I was just fishing whether there is a potential at all.
I am well aware that being a non-native is a disadvantage for many reasons. I know that wanting to teach a language that, no matter how well I know it and how proficiently 'operate' in it, it is still my L2. I guess I am left with taking advantage of what I prehaps know best- how I actually learned English and how I can apply my experience in my teaching (as suggested in this thread previously).
Thanks for taking the time in quoting the LanGuTou thread. |

Not so Euroland. I would not rate your chances at all there, nor for any other non-Euro citizens. Sorry. |
Isn't she an EU citizen? I think she's from the CZ. |
Two different posters. The first was Czech, but the second was Filipino, I assume. No visas for most of the Euro zone. |

Those of us on the Earth for whom it's 8.18 local time. As in Moscow, local time GMT+4.
Time enough to be opening that second bottle to wash down breakfast - hic! |

Nothing more useful than a solid breakfast - except a liquid one. Sets you up for the day, or at least till liquid lunch time. |

I finished up a CELTA course last spring, and a few of my fellow students were non-native English speakers. I think most of them were planning to teach in countries where they could put their native language to use if necessary, and in that regard I'm actually kind of jealous since I'll be floundering around trying to learn the local language while they're already ahead of the game. |
