I just got an "amplicacion" (adding a new school) onto my FM2 visa.
It's a different process now, so if you are thinking of getting, renewing, or adding to your visa, may I suggest that you talk to your local migraction (immigration) office.

Some changes are that you have to initially apply online. And even though I had to submit a letter from the school who wants to hire me, my FM2 visa doesn't mention the school, but has some wording about working in the education sector.

Also, it was a lot quicker this time around. I think it's becoming more efficient, which is great.

I still have the old "passport-like" booklet, but I believe, as Guy said in a previous post, that they are going to have plastic ID-type cards for any new or renewed FM3-FM2 visas.

Kind of annoyed at this, as I've done 5 FM3s and 3 FM2s, it's a breeze now. With only 1 FM2 to go and the application for inmigrado, I've got to learn a new procedure! Ah, well...

Phil the new process is easier, INM is more trusting now, you right a letter saying you swear that everything is the same--address, the place you work, your degrees, etc. and you DON'T turn in copies of all those things.

Mine was done in 4 days! I couldn't believe it. I went to renew an FM2 independiente, last renewal before inmigrado status. They've also reduced the requirements. I didn't have to show any record of taxes paid, none of the marriage stuff, just filled in the form online, wrote a letter swearing I still do the same stuff, got relieved of nearly $3000 pesos and that was it. Kind of disappointed with the card they gave me. Looks like a video club card and is just as well made.
