I live in Northern California, Silicon Valley Area, where the cost of living is off the hook.
I just got my bill and it's $1,000 although it includes an additional mammogram. I don't have insurance so I went to a county-subsidized hospital for the tests, which apparently charges poor people and the uninsured more as a favor. |

| I did my exams in China and it came to a whopping 165 RMB-- which my boss paid for. |

A hospital is most definitely not the best place to get a physical. Many urgent care centers and walk-in clinics actually specialize in physicals. They have all the equipment there, including x-ray machines.
If anyone is looking for a place to do their medical exam, find out where local employers, particularly places like the fire department, send their employees to get their physicals to clear them for work. I'm pretty sure it won't be a hospital.
Do your research, folks. |

In fact, the medical exams can be done in varieties of hospitals/clinics and I have done so myself in a clinic as well. However, I suggest anyone doing so be careful because there are some white coated staff members of hospitals that aren't exactly doctors but nurses and so their official stamps and signatures may not be acceptable for visa officers.
X-rays are my worry as well. Having it done ones in a while is ok, but every year and for a kid...Good to read on that kids may not have to go through that.
I've heard that some cities on mainland have a one time only health check requirement, don't they? FTs don't have to go to second medical exams, do they? I've read somewhere of Shenzhen doing that. |
