| Is anyone familiar with the city of Jinan and Shandong? It's in the same provide as Qingdao, which gets lots of attention, but I haven't been able to find any posts about the city or the school. |

I have just moved away from Jinan. largerlout2006 is still living there and gingermeggs visits his 'friend' there very often. Contact anyone of us for info. I'll definately reply but they other two....well....that's up to them...

On the other hand, Jinan is okay...PLenty of fancy wateringholes for Laowei with money to burn...I visit around once a month and hit the local restaurants for a good feed...but I prefer the Chinese places...much cheaper and the beer doesn't cost 20-25 yuan...some very nice little places...and after eating school food for a month, I need a break. Many interesting places to see around the area...not too far from anywhere in Shandong, good shopping...The Sofitel has a 24 hour revolving lounge on the 49th floor with a good Filipino cover band...good for a late night relax, after dining and wining... |

Ji'nan seems to have improved a bit since my stint there years back...
But I reckon, it's still rather dusty throughout the year. Everyday, I noticed white dust piling up on the floor, furniture, tables and dishes.
My brand-new flat had no bathtub or shower because, as someone said, "it's too cold here in winter for us to take a bath..."
The beer was absolutely excellent and dirt cheap; available in huge mugs; real draught beer. |
