He's now Operations Manager, no less - you just can't make this stuff up. What's really strange is that he earns less than the dross he recruits for Saudi.

When he was in charge in Jubail he used to lock himself in his office and when confronted outside would say that he has got the best paid job in Qatar to go to. Still (Mod edit) his boss back at Langsols central is even worse-an alkie with the bravery of the strawman.

(MOD edit for use of names)

They will always remove names or at least part of the names when they see them. I've seen it hundreds of times. They have no way of knowing if you are using the real names or something made up. Such a rule is also protecting you from a workmate putting your real name up here with some tale of your activities. Laughing

Has the rumoured mass exodus occurred or did things calm down?

Actually a bunch of people got fired! I keep looking back at this board to see if any of them have posted bitter diatribes about Lang Sols. Three people quit and about once a month someone either pulls a runner or does something ridiculous and gets fired immediately. Most people decided to stay, I think mainly due to a lack of good job options, small improvements in the company and a long, much needed, paid summer vacation followed by another break in November. Plus a decent bonus for finishing a year. They've hired a load of new teachers for Sept so we'll see how that goes...

A fellow I met who works at Qatar Foundation spent five years at Qatar Petroleum, including a stint as a head teacher. His comment was, "I left because I was bored. I bet you are too. QP is a holding pen. The students are jumping out the window."

Haha, that is true. But all of the people I know working at QP who are not direct hire have very specific monetary goals and are just staying till the second they reach them. Everyone under 35 is saving for grad school for instance. It does not seem to be the type of country or the type of job that people plan to stay in long term. I still uphold that, if you don't have any qualifications besides a BA and TEFL, that it is a decent job. But then I'm 28 and saving 3 grand a month is a ton of money for me!

I had my lesson observed by two supervisors once. One nodded off. Later another nodded off. For a while they were both dozing. Maybe this was appropriate, given the number of students asleep on their desks on any given day. I got an excellent lesson assessment. It must have been a beautiful dream.

Problems persist. Langsols just doesn't make the grade.

Lang Sols got rid of most of the married people or the ones with families. They didn't want to shell out for two bedroom apartments. They are even more grasping than Imtiaz was. They prefer single teachers who cost less to house and don't ask for extra perks. Some rumors that QP is not overly happy with them but I suppose as long as they don't overcharge the way Griffith did, they'll keep them on. Some students are still being sent to CNAQ and some will go to the new commmunity college.

Just heard from an ex Gulager who was turfed by Lang Sols. Miserable lot to work with apparently.

Lang Sols is a teaching mill. Avoid if you can.

I worked for Language Solutions in Kuwait.

I got exactly what it said in the contract and I was always paid in full, and on time.

I always found the UK based higher management to be decent guys, and I would have no trouble recommending a stint with them, so long as you fully understand the location you are going to and the nature of the job.

Teaching adult oil company staff in the Middle East is a far cry from teaching youngsters in other locations.

Lucky you, Lowlander. Lang Sols in Q has not been the greatest employer according to some. But, hey - it's a job and the few Gulagers who are working there are grateful to be employed. At least they are better employers than the Griffith/Imtiaz duo who really profited from their QP deal and made a lot of bucks. Imtiaz wasn't too bad but hooking up with Griffith was a big mistake! I should know - as I was there!!!

So good-by Gulag and hello Lang Sols. Good job I don't work there!
