I do agree that this provides most of everything that you need to provide. However, I was asked for additional documents that were not on this page.

1. I had to resend my lab work signed and stamped by my PCP. Even though it had the MD name on it and the clinic name on the paperwork.

2. Even though I am going as a family, I had to provide a letter of consent for me to be able to bring my children along with me.

3. I also had to provide an Islamic certificate from the state I am living in, that proves that I am a Muslim. If you look at the documentation page for this, it states only
Quote:
3. Islamic Certificates and Other Documents Issued in Washington DC
so it provided nothing about what someone in another state should do for authenticating "a declaration of faith".

Of course these are not huge problems, but they can delay your paperwork, even more than one would like Confused

Well I am not Muslim, so I guess I overlooked that one. My apologies.

can anyone recommend a good agency to use for getting a saudi work visa? Have contacted Divanvisa.com(as someone recommended in this thread) but they told me they can only work with their own contracts. Any info would be helpful.

Dear Lucy

This webpage has all the offices that work with the enjaz: http://www.saudiembassy.net/services/visa_offices_registered_with_enjaz.aspx

I looked at all the websites when I first started and I went with A Briggs because they have an office in my area, and they also have a chat option on their webpage that was very helpful. I would just look at each website and see which one you would feel best working with.

I've just heard from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in Washington, D.C. and my visa request has been rejected by the Embassy.

It seems that the position I was hired for, lecturer, requires a doctorate. I have an M.A. in TESOL.

I sent an e-mail to the university that issued the contract and was told that someone else had this same problem.

I'm just amazed and don't know what to think.

The funny thing is my other paperwork was fine, thanks to the advice I received here, especially from ummkhadija.

May things go better for those of you still waiting to hear.

Was this a non-EFL position? I have never heard of a TEFL position requiring a PhD unless you would be teaching in an Applied Linguistics program in teacher training.

In most of my positions (with my MA in TEFL), I was called a "lecturer." Something is fishy here...

Its so unfortunate, because I went through the same thing for an entire month, talking to my employer, the visa agency, and the SCM. They kept telling me that I could not get my family visa for the same reason they didn't give you the visa.

I was finally given my visa this Monday, I do believe that if your employer calls and asks why this happened, you can get the documents re-submitted. I had to re-submit mine once, and than as time went on they just asked for other items.

My best advice is tell your employer to call, give them the number to the specific person who called and told you that you were rejected. My employer talk to the person who said she would not re-sumbit my paperwork and her superior. Than after about two weeks of that occuring; she turned in my paperwork again, and than two weeks after that, I received my visa (and my family's).

I also think something is very strange and "fishy."

I was hired to teach EAP courses, not courses in applied linguistics.

Thanks for the advice, ummkhadija, and congratulations on getting your visa and the visas for your family. I'm glad everything worked out well.

I know that someone in HR is trying to talk to the rector about the Ph.d requirement. Perhaps they can do something.

I'm wondering if employers are perhaps given X amount of visas for different levels... so many requiring an MA, so many hiring a PhD? And the embassy is restricted by whatever it says, not the true job requirements.

Or perhaps someone ticked the wrong box somewhere in the process. It will need to be fixed by the employer from their side.

This might well be the case, as administrative errors are not uncommon. Not once but twice my visa application was held up because my sponsors had accidentally filed a request for a male teacher! My job description is also 'lecturer' and I do not have a PhD. Nor do most if not all of my colleagues with the same job description. It could be that your employers accidentally filed your application as a 'university level' lecturer and this might be why the embassy are insisting you have a PhD.

The only thing you can do is contact your employers asap and hope that they can sort it out.

Thanks to those of you you have replied to my postings.

Your postings have helped me understand things better.

It seems that an administrative error was made in the block visa form. Someone from the rector's office is going to call the Embassy in Washington on Monday to see what can be done.

They'll try and I'll just wait.

Thanks UmmKhadija for understanding how I feel.
