Hi All,
I am looking to relocate to Dubai to earn cash so that I can get that coveted Master's degree in TESOL/Applied Linguistics.
As it stands right now, I am a native English speaking Canadian with 9 years experience teaching EFL/ESL, a CELTA, curriculum development, management, exam skills and academic preparation experience.
What do you think my prospects are for gainful employment in Dubai? What schools should i be looking at.
I am looking for any and all advice.
Cheers |

First off, I certainly wouldn't restrict myself to one city. Your biggest hurdle is your lack of the MA since the better employers require one. That said, your experience sounds good and if you can manage to sell yourself well, you may be able to get into a place like HCT. It would improve your chances if you attend TESOLArabia in March and have a face-to-face interview.
The problem is always getting that first job in the Gulf, where they are so obsessed with academic pieces of paper. Thus you may have to start out in a place like Oman. The Ministry of Education colleges out around Oman will hire BA+CELTA+3 on the CV. The pay is less than the UAE, but the jobs are lower pressure and you would probably have an easier time doing your studies.
