Okay, so before anyone suggests I do a search and read previous posts, done it.
I would love some updated advice though. I am scheduled for a remote interview (MSN) and as it has been some time since I've been on the 'sell yourself' block, I could do with some guidance. How intense is it likely to be and what kind of questions are likely to be asked?
Cheers Dears

Very good!! I bet you used to proofread your essays before you turned them in too.
Sorry I haven't picked up any buzz lately. Hopefully not everyone is on an airplane right now flying back.

I would suspect most IAT or those in a position to know are travelling or just coming into "town" right now. Give it at least a few days or even weeks to hope for a direct response. |

I would have thought new staff would be on site for induction at least.
Oh what to do? Hmm ...
What the heck, I'll just fake an internet malfunction if it gets too tough |

You do realize that this is the Eid holiday, don't you? And the reality is that even if new staff were being inducted, they wouldn't have signing into Dave's as their first priority. Actually common sense says to stay off this website at work and likely none of them would have access in their flats yet.

Well aware of the week that's in it petal.
Still, in the spirit of the job discussion forum that this is, I have to hold out some hope, vain though it may be, that there will be at least one or two members hovering that could possibly assist.
Judging by your own activity of late I take it you didn't take advantage of an Air Arabia Eid special!

Sorry what's that? petal? as in flower bits?
I'm retired so I don't have to deal with those nasty little interviews anymore or flying off to anywhere. With luck I will never have to look at the inside of another airport again.

A wee term of endearment in our neck of the wood.
I'm in envy of your retired status ... having said that, I have chosen to throw caution to the wind and cancel the interview in question and now look forward to two things ... not setting foot in an Emirati airport for a VERY long time, and a whistlestop tour of numerous South American ones.
Not quite retirement, but a well earned break at least.

I hadn't realized that we were close enough for terms of endearment.
Your plan sounds a nice one. Actually Emirati airports are more pleasant than many... and a few years teaching there can fund lots of future travels if that is what one wants.

Dear veiledsentiments,
I'm going to say "never":

Have you had the interview already?
If not... what matters most is a) classroom experience, b) regional experience, and c) your background in EFL. As long as you have experience in the classroom and either regional experience or EFL credentials of some sort, you should be considered a good candidate. Other good qualities to possess are flexibility and patience. |
