|
|
I am moving to Mexico in early May with hopes of landing a job at a college or university for this fall, someplace either in or convenient to the D.F. (an hour or two away by autobs, though I would also love to find a position in Oaxaca). In the meantime, I will need to bring in some income to tide me over till September. I lived and worked in Mexico in the late 1970s and have returned regularly for vacations over the intervening years but have no realistic idea of where to look for work in 2004. I would appreciate any suggestions from current denizens of the D.F. regarding language schools that might be hiring in May. I have many years of teaching experience under my belt plus a B.S. in Secondary Education and Spanish and a couple of M.A.'s.
Mil gracias,
Marsha |

Can anyone tell me how to get into the employment section of the Tec de Monterrey website? I had a direct link to it at one point, but I've lost it, and can't find my way back..
Thanks,
Lozwich. |

Rich,
Thanks for the tip! I've just sent off a letter to your boss along with my resume. I do have business experience in addition to my years of teaching, so this could prove to be a good place for me to begin my job search.

Tec de Monterrey and ITESM are the same thing. There are two branches in Mexico. If you have an MA and experience it is probably the best university level teaching position you can start with (or end with). The employment page on the general itesm website is useless. go to www.itesm.mx and click on the specific campus you are interested in. this will open that campus's homepage. from there you should search for anything that looks like a director of the language, or english, department. or, if you find nothing (entirely possible since most of their webpages are confusing), you should begin by writing to the director of the prepa (if you are interested in high school) or profesional (if you are interested in teaching undergraduates). they should forward your email to the appropriate person and though it may take weeks, you will probably get a response.
good luck, that's how i did it and was offered jobs at about 6 of their campuses last year |
